Origin
In the beginning, there was Nothing. Everyone and everything originates from Nothing. And in the end, everything returns to Nothing.
The idea of the origin of humankind, the universe, and everything around has accompanied people since the dawn of the first civilizations. For a long time the only explanation was the belief in a supernatural being or god who created everything. With the rise of science and with new discoveries in astronomy and archaeology, however, we began to uncover theories of evolution and cycles of the universe that bring beginnings as well as endings. (We will discuss the individual explanations of origin in more detail later in the blog.)
All these ideas about origin, however, share one common trait. None of them can provide a final answer to the question itself.
What was before?
When the gods created the universe, what was before the gods?
When the universe arose from the Big Bang, what was before the first bang?
What was at the beginning of infinity?
There are many answers to these questions, some more convincing, others less so. Within this exposition we will present the semelist perspective on the beginning.
More about what “nothing” is can be found in detail on the main page. In short: nothing is the beginning, a state in which there was absolutely nothing. From nothing the smallest particles gradually emerged, which after an immensely long time began to cluster and form the universe as we know it today.
It is important to realize that time as we perceive it is different from what time actually is. We must understand time as a unit of change. We will clarify this further later in the blog.
Do These Particles Still Emerge Today?
Yes
Nothing is still present everywhere around us and constantly generates new particles. However, this quantity is so negligible that in terms of time and space it is practically insignificant for us. Nothing also has the ability to absorb particles, and therefore it is possible that one day everything will disappear. Yet since nothing continually generates new particles, this disappearance will never be absolute or final.
And What Was Before Nothing?
The answer is simple: nothing.
